Nature, the sea and the flavours of Istria within easy reach
Casa POVE is located in the peaceful village of Baredine, surrounded by the beautiful Istrian countryside and close to a network of walking and cycling trails, including the famous Parenzana route.
It is an ideal base for discovering the hidden beauty of inland Istria, whether you prefer leisurely walks through the countryside or more adventurous cycling routes.
The Adriatic coast is also within easy reach. The popular seaside towns of Umag and Novigrad are only around 20 kilometres away, offering beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters during the warmer months.
After a day of exploring, discover the flavours that have made Istria one of Croatia’s most celebrated gastronomic regions. Within just a few kilometres you will find renowned wineries, excellent restaurants and traditional konobas serving local specialities such as truffles, extra virgin olive oil and Istria’s signature wines, Malvasia and Teran.

Historic hilltop towns just a short drive away
Some of Istria’s most picturesque historic towns are just a few kilometres from Casa POVE.
Buje, surrounded by some of the region’s finest vineyards and wine roads, is only 5 km away, while Grožnjan, the romantic hilltop town known for its artists and galleries, is just 6 km from the house.
A little further afield lies Motovun, one of Istria’s most iconic medieval hilltop towns, renowned for its spectacular views and sunsets, around 18 km away.
Oprtalj, a quieter hidden gem with charming stone streets and beautifully preserved historic architecture, is approximately 22 km away.
Three Countries, Endless Experiences
Croatia, Slovenia and Italy from one perfect base
Casa POVE’s unique location makes it easy to discover three countries during a single stay.
The Slovenian coast is only around 20 kilometres away. Spend an afternoon exploring the romantic old town of Piran or visit the lively port town of Koper for a stroll and a coffee by the sea.
Travel a little further and you will reach Trieste, Italy, around 40 kilometres away – perfect for a day of shopping, sightseeing, culture and, of course, Italian coffee.
To experience another side of the region’s rich history, head south to Pula, approximately 80 kilometres away and home to its magnificent Roman amphitheatre.
